Dear Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan Members:

I hope this letter finds you in good health and spirits.  It is my pleasure to invite you to “The Weekend With the Masters – Region 1 and 2” special training camp, which will be held on April 10-11, 2026.  This year the event will be held over two days.  Friday night, April 10th there will be a class held at the West Haven Academy of Karate, 766 Boston Post Road, West Haven, CT open to all Dans and Masters from 6:00 – 8:30 pm.   On Saturday we will have a full program from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The Saturday clinics will be held at the High Plains Community Center Gymnasium, 525 Orange Center Road, Orange, CT 06477.  Day two (Saturday) will be open to all TSDMGK students (gups, dans, and masters).  A complete itinerary of the syllabus and instructor assignments is attached to this invitation.

 

“The Weekend With the Masters – Region 1 and 2” Specialized Training Camp will be a fantastic opportunity for our participants to train with the senior masters in Tang Soo Do Mi Guk Kwan and to spend some quality training time with like-minded martial artists who are motivated to increase their understanding of the Tang Soo Do art form. 

 

White, orange, green belts if you own one, will want to bring their own bong (staff) with them as we will probably not have enough to go around.  Red belts will want to bring their mokum (wooden sword, kagum - aluminum unsharpened is fine).  Studio owners who have bongs and mokum (swords) it would be appreciated if you could bring some with you to ensure that we have enough weapons to go around.  It would also be appreciated that dans / masters would bring the appropriate weapons  for their rank with them as well. 

 

This year’s “Weekend With the Masters” training will begin at 9:00 am and will end at 4:00 pm.  There will be a lunch break from 12:00 – 1:00 participants can either visit the many fast food restaurants located with a 10 minute drive from the community center or bring their own brown bag lunch. 

 

Enclosed you will find an application, list of instructors and itinerary for the day.  Please have each student fill out an application and mail it back to headquarters with the appropriate fee.  If you need additional applications please feel free to print as many as you need.  Let’s make this the best attended event possible.  Why not?  Where else can you have the opportunity to train with and learn from so many talented masters in one place for one day? 

 

If you are an instructor who is on the teaching schedule…I will need you to RSVP that you will be attending and available to teach the class scheduled as soon as possible.
